Segni e sintomi

I seguenti sono alcuni segni che indicano che una persona ha un problema di gioco d’azzardo:

•  Giocando per lunghi periodi di tempo oppure aumentando il periodo di tempo passato nei locali di gioco d’azzardo

•  Preocupazione continua del gioco – pensandoci sempre e preparandosi per il gioco

•  “Seguendo le perdite” – giocarando spesso e di più per “vincere” di nuovo la somma persa.

•  Spesse e non spiegabili assenze – da casa o lavoro e secreti ingiustificati

•  Giocando per sfuggire agli altri obblighi della vita quotidiana

•  Aumentando i debiti per il gioco

•  Dicendo bugie

•  Attività criminale per il finanziamento del gioco

•  Trascurando la famiglia / la cura personale – cibo, sonno, studi, oppure benessere totale

•  Problemi intimi / distanza emotiva e fisica

•  I ragazzi mostrano colpa e vergogna (ossesione per i soldi)

•  I ragazzi prendono il ruolo di pseudo-genitore (lealtà ai genitori vs. svelando segreti)

•  Problemi con l’abuso delle sostanze (droga e alcool)

•  “Chasing losses”-gambling more often and playing higher stakes to “win back” lost money

•  Frequent, unexplained absences-from home or work and undue secrecy

•  Gambling to escape from obligations or life’s daily pressures

•  Growing debt from gambling

•  Lying

•  Criminal activity to finance gambling

•  Neglecting family/personal needs-e.g., nutrition, sleep, schooling or general well-being

•  Intimacy issues / emotional & physical distance

•  Children exhibit guilt and shame (overvalue money materialism)

•  Child takes role of pseudo-parent (loyalty to parents vs. blowing the whistle)

•  Problems with substance abuse (drugs and alcohol)
